I don't know much about jetskiing but I did watch and take pictures of the jetskiers last month in Labadee.
That evening there was an anouncement from the Captain asking passengers to stay away from the front of the ship and to not take flash pictures of a helicopter that would be landing on the helipad to take a passenger off the ship for medical treatment.
At dinner I asked our head waiter what happened and he said that an inexperienced jet skier had crashed into a young woman on another jet ski and caused head injuries which required hospitalization in Miami. Later we heard that she would be OK.
I don't know if they give much instruction on how to use jet skis but I'll stick to the floating mattress close to shore.

We used the jet skis at Coco Cay last summer and they're a blast. You do go through a short orientation. We did nothing more than follow the leader and the people who wanted to go fast or where the more experienced went first. I know one person in our party tipped their ski.
The one thing I would suggest is pay the extra (if you can) to have each person ride their own ski. I rode on the back with my husband and it was AWFUL! It was hard to hold on and I almost fell off the back several times. I think it was my husbands way of doing me in for the insurance money!
We were on the Voyager at the same time.....I didn't see you:-)
I wonder how the woman came out....
That was my 18th cruise and thought it was one of the better ones I've been on. Weather, ports, food and entertainment.
I put Jet Ski's and Mopeds in the same category... I avoid them. not worth the risk of accident. Yes, you are on water with the Jet Skis, but you can still crash into stuff as the other poster pointed out.
There are so many things to do and see that you can't do at home.. why not do those things.

It was a great cruise - We liked it so much we're on the Voyager again out of Barcelona next month.
I wonder if Charo will be on that one too?
