I'm thinking of going on the Explorer next summer(2008) on either the 9-day bermuda and eastern caribbean or the 9 day canada/new england. Which itinerary do you think is better. Also what do you think of the shape the ship is in and how it is? I just need your thoughts on the boat being 8 years old, the itinerary and about its entertainment, etc.

Just got off the ship in April. The ship is a very nice ship with all the amenities. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves; food was good, entertainment was so-so. We were in a junior suite with 4 of us; comfortable and roomy. We had the best cabin steward we've ever had-Dean. Dining room staff was very good, although our waiter could have had a little more personality. The ports were St. Martin, San Juan, St. Thomas, and Nassau; you can have Nassau.

Although I like other ships better (i.e. Radiance class), I'd recommend this ship to anybody. Look for others here to post worthwhile reviews.

If you are brand new to cruising, it's easy to be spoiled going on one of the mega ships with all the activities and ammenities. (if you asked me twenty years ago about the probability of ice skating on a ship, I would have just looked blankly at you) But, some of the older ships, not just in RCCL's inventory, have so much character and a special air of dignity about them. That is cruising at it's best to me. Eight years young is not that much for one of these superliners. They are lovingly cared for right down to every brass rivet on deck.
P.S. I wonder if I can get a job as a zamboni driver.

I have been on 5 cruises one being the Mariner of the Seas. I loved that and just a couple questions. What itinerary do you think would be better and also if I got on the boat would the condition of it be a let down for me?

I loved our New England cruise. It's soooo different from a Caribbean cruise. The greatest thrill was seeing whales. This picture shows how close we got.

Sonny- you went on the New England Canada cruise? I didn't know that! As you know we're going in the fall, can't wait. Everyone has told us it's a wonderful ship and we look forward to it. I think this would be a better cruise in the fall than the summer...Maybe our friends the tampataylors should book both????One this year in the summer and the other, next year in the fall????
Sounds like a good plan to me!
I think I'll go start packing....9 weeks to go!

We did the New England on the Enchantment in August of 2005. Just wanted to let you know it wasn't on the Explorer.

Was it hot then? Did you do anything special that we shouldn't miss? The picture you posted, was that a common sight or a one time deal? Was the picture taken off the ship?
