Royal Caribbean

Hello, My daugher and 3-4 friends would like to take a cruise for Spring break. They are all 18 yrs old. They asked me to chaparone. We would divide up into 3 rooms/cabins. They thought that if we had adjoining rooms, it would be okay for the 18 yr olds to share a cabin, but it sounds like for Royal Carribbean, that would only work if I were everyone's parent/guardian??
Thanks

I can't remember what exactly Royal Caribbean's policy is. They're website is down as of right now, so I can't get on the site to check. My recollection was that at least one person in each stateroom had to be 21. This may be the case for most major cruise lines, but I'm not sure.

You will need a letter from the friends parents appointing you Guardian over the girls while on the cruise. Be sure it includes making medical decisions if needed. They will need to be in an adjacent room to yours. Royal Caribbean should be able to provide you a form letter.

You will need someone at least 18 years of age in each cabin.

For those under the age of 18, you will need travel releases from their parents/guardians. I would also suggest getting a medical release from them too.

Royal Caribbean's current policy is no one under the age of 21 can travel in a state room without someone 21 or over in that state room.

I'd be happy to help:) Of course, you'd have to pay my fare LOL. I'm kidding with you. Cruise Fanatic is correct and some lines it's 25 years old. You will need releases.

Cruise Fanatic-

Is the age requirement of 21 years in each cabin a new change in the rule? We were on Liberty in June 2010 and had 18 year olds in their own cabin. This was the age requirement quoted to us by RCI at the time...

Thanks.

Thanks for the information, Dave. I was just going to point out that I recently booked a trip on the Freedom with my wife and I in one stateroom and our three daughters (16, 11 and 8) in their own stateroom next door.

Good luck getting your daughter's parents to assign you as guardian. I would guess that some would be hesitant.

Have a great time,

Brad
