Default Cheaper Drinks
We are doing a Eastern Caribbean on the Allure on April 3rd. We have an Ocean balcony room. I was wondering if there was a way to bring on board some booze and wine for your room instead of having to buy from a bar. We would like to be able to have drinks in the room. We did a southern Caribbean in 2003 out of San Juan and there was a Duty Free shop after we checked in but before we got on the ship. That was great! Anything like that?

Sorry, but you're not allowed to bring alcohol aboard the ship--if you try to hide it in your luggage they will confiscate it and hold it until the end of your cruise. Even if you purchase alcohol aboard the ship you won't be allow to take it to your room. A handful of people have ruined it for us. I can remember when we bought rum in San Juan and took it to our cabin, but that was the good old days. We're all in the same boat now.

IMO it's still worth a shot to smuggle it in small quantities (several bottles). I consider it part of the fun of cruising.

I never have heard about the "not taking it to your room" provision. How do they stop you? Hall monitors? I have done it several times. Now my upcoming PCcruise just got more fun...

Mickeyd,
The not taking it to your cabin that Sonny is talking about is when you purchase alcohol from the duty free shop on the ship. They will hold the bottle until the end of the cruise.

It is the policy of the Cruise Reviews Forums to encourage our Members to abide by the policies of the cruise lines. The official word from Royal Caribbean is located HERE and is consistent with what Sonny posted earlier.

Any posts regarding the circumvention of the cruise line's policies will be removed. Sorry, that's how it is.
