First Timers on Mariner of the Seas- Advice Needed!!

Hi all,

My partner (26) and myself (23) have just booked a 12 night Mediterranean cruise on Mariner of the Seas departing 4th June 2011. We were wondering about the drinks situation on Royal Caribbean, we were originally told we could purchase an all inclusive (wine/beer) deal for £20 per day, however apparently this is not true? What are the cheapest options for alcohol- do they have special offers? Can you buy duty-free booze on board the ship to drink in your cabin? We will probably end up having a few nights out at the bars so could really do with some tips!!

Also- what are the surcharges like for eating in certain restaurants, does anyone know how much these are?

Royal Caribbean recently announced alcoholic drink packages for three of their ships in Europe, but the Mariner Of The Seas is not one of them.

Liquor purchased aboard ship is not allowed to be used for in-room consumption. You will have to buy it by-the-drink in the bars. They do have daily drink specials and often will sell "buckets" of 4 or 5 bottles of beer for a special price.

Portofino's, Chops Grill, and Johny Rockets are the specialty restaurants that have a cover charge. The prices while the Mariner is in the States: Portofino's $20 pp - Chops Grill $25 pp - and Johny Rockets $3.95 pp.
