If you are booked on a Mexican cruise in 2011 aboard the Mariner, well, you soon won't be. The ship is being moved to Europe. The final sailing from southern California will be on January 9, 2011. Read the news HERE
OH WOW ....I guess majesty is next to go ..it seems like after years they move on out with the constant updateS OF NEW SHIPS...IM going on the majesty this month and I already wanna go on a newer ship lol
The Mariner isn't leaving Royal Caribbean, it is just being repositioned from the U.S. to Europe. Plus the Mariner will return to the U.S. for sailings out of Galveston, Texas.
It's too bad because the Mexican Riviera is a great change from the Caribbean. I really enjoyed the Radiance and Mariner Mexican Riviera cruises. I believe there will be a lot of West Coast RCCL customers that aren't going to be happy with this new decision.
I just put a 24 hour hold on the last Mariner cruise out of L.A. Right now the prices are fairly low for balcony staterooms, but my guess is they'll go up quickly when people find out about the move to Europe. It might be a very interesting cruise--a historical one for sure.
As I recall RCI made a fairly big deal out of moving the Mariner to L.A. So they are going from moving a bigger ship there to totally abandoning the market in a little over 2 years. I guess the demand in Europe must really be skyrocketing, for all the cruise lines to be moving so many ships over there.
