Family of 5 - best options

Hi,

I am looking at booking a cruise for the family 2 adult and 3 kids (8/6/4)

What would be the best ship/s / room configurations / price, do we need to book very early to get the family room?

Thanks
Jason

Since you posted this under Royal Caribbean I gather you are looking at one of their ships. If you can swing one of the newest and largest ships, the Allure or Oasis your family will have more than enough activities. However; all Royal Caribbean larger ships will work too. Yes, you should book as early as possible for a family suite or two rooms adjoining. I would recommend you have a travel agent help you in selecting one of the larger ships and help in booking the cabin/cabins.

Family Cabin

I agree with Cruise Fanatic. Book very early, as in maybe a year in advance. Room prices are based on number of people in the cabin. First two are full fare, and each additional person is a smaller amount. I'd also ask an agent for help on your first time at this. RCL is a great line for young people too.

One thing to keep in mind if you are getting 2 cabins, you must have one person over 21 in each. If you book connecting cabins this is not an issue. Depending on the age of your kids even cabins next to each other is not a real problem. But it is certainly a reason to use a travel agent and book early.
