Port Everglades
We will be staying at Fort Lauderdale the day before our cruise on the Allure which is April 1st. We are looking for suggestions of things to do the day before we depart.
Thanks! Dave |
I would definitely take an airboat ride in the Everglades.

I thought about that myself, thanks

Don't forget there are some great beaches in Ft.Lauderdale along with some great Beachside Hotels. Additionally You can take a tour of the Ft.Lauderdale Canals...the Venice of America...and see the homes of the Glitterati.....this is a plus since You will also have a chance to go shoppping on Las Olas Blvd. for upscale items!!
Bon Voyage!! BillyBuzzy |
Have a drink in the restaurant on top of Hyatt pier 66 and watch the Oasis sail at 5:30. Then remember that the following day people will be there watching you!
A lot depends on where you're staying. You can ride the water taxi all day for 20 dollars or after 5 for 10 bucks. There's a hop on hop off trolley, or you hotel may have a shuttle to the beach. We stayed at both the Embassy suites (free breakfast and cocktail reception filled with cruisers) and the Hilton Marina (free beach shuttle). Just walking around the Marina looking at the yachts was amazing. It's also a good time to review what you've packed in case you've forgotten sunscreen, toothpaste etc. There are lots of great restaurants also. Bimini boatyard, Bubba Gump's, etc. Or subway, and a cold six-pack. The problem will be that you don't have a few more days to spend there. Have a great time on the Allure. Be sure to have a roast beef sandwich at the Park Cafe on deck 8 and try Samba's Brazillian grill in the Solarium...unless you're a vegetarian. |
Thank You
Some great suggestions, Thank You!

If you're staying close enough to the intracoastal, get a water taxi ticket. You can get on/off as many times as you like. Take the taxi all the way to the north end and have a drink at Charlie's Crab or the other restaurant. It's great to watch the boats going up and down the water and it's the best way to see Lauderdale. Pier 66 Bar and Grill is right on the intracoastal, too. Great place for a meal. Do get off of the water taxi on one of the Las Olas stops, they revitalized that area with a bunch of cafes and shops.
