Default RCCL Kiosk
Hello again forum family, here's another question for you.

I recently went on a cruise on the Carnival cruise line.
Now they had this Kiosk and all you had to do was swipe your passport and do your onboard accounts through that system. OMG how the lines moved so fast and it was so conveniant
no long lines or anything.
So my question is has RCCL adopted this method yet?

To my knowledge, RCI has not adopted this concept yet. At least they haven't at the time of my last cruise, which was October of 2010.
2007 - Majesty of the Seas (Bahamas)
2009 - Enchantment of the Seas (Western Caribbean)
2010 - Freedom of the Seas (Western Caribbean)
2013 - Golden Princess (Alaska, roundtrip from Seattle)

I believe it is a week before your cruise, you can do a pre-checkin online. I recommend doing this to set up your onboard accounts. Then the day of the cruise, all you do is give them your passport, take your picture, sign something and you are on your way.

We did this for the Oasis and were through checkin in about 10 minutes.

Carnival Triumph - Spring Break Cruise - 2006
Carnival Victory - Birthday/Summer Cruise - 2007
Oasis of the Seas - Group Cruise - 2010

The special terminal they have for the Oasis/Allure is laid out specifically to handle boarding 6000+ passengers seamlessly. You do have to go through a real person to check-in but they have something like 90 check-in lines. People are staged all along the way, from the entrance to the terminal to the entrance to the ship. They are well trained and empowered to make things happen. It is typical to go from dropping your luggage off to boarding the ship in 10 minutes. Their standard is to not let it take more than 15 minutes no matter how many people are arriving.

You do everything including the security photo at the check-in desk. Very impressive operation.

Of course, you'll need to do your on-line check-in and you can do that any time after the booking is made. I did the online check-in for our June cruise two months ago.
