connecting balcony doors?
 

Someone at Royal Caribbean told me that they can no longer open the connecting balcony door between two staterooms. Is this correct?

I Haven't heard anything like that, and I can't think of a good reason why they would enforce that policy.

We've had the stateroom attendant open the balcony divider several times without issue. I’ve also heard of three or four staterooms all having theirs open creating one large balcony. Were they referencing a specific ship?

Someone in customer service told me this when I called to inquire about the availability of specific cabins on two ships on two different sailing dates. He said that they can no longer open the balcony cabin doors due to safety reasons. He claimed that there was no way to secure them when they were open. I have taken several cruises, although it has been 3 years since the last one, but I seem to remember that the door was secured when open. I wonder if he knows what he is talking about?

About 50% of the time, on average. Call again and you might get a different answer.

I will ask again when I book the cruise. It should be interesting. Thanks to all who replied.

A reservation agent isn't going to have anything to do with opening the door anyway. Just ask your cabin steward about opening the door.

I pretty sure it's up to the Captain. I know they don't allow it on the Mariner or the Navigator. The freedom class ships have sliding partitions so it more likely they will allow it.

We have had balcony doors open on Oasis and on Freedom. Other ships have said no. We just asked the cabin attendant. We also pre-tipped the attendant $20 per couple at boarding. Don't know if that helped, but our service was stellar throughout the cruise. Best to book next to each other and ask.
