I went to general cruise chat to search this subject out. Wine.....I see where it says you can bring wine aboard the ship. I also was told you can not, now which is true? We went on Carnival earlier this year and was able to bring our own wine, so I just want to know can we do the same on the Allure. HELP
Different Cruiselines have different rules regarding bringing wine aboard. We were recently (Feb.12) allowed one bottle (750ml)of wine per passenger (over 21) on the Carnival Splendor in Long Beach!
Like Billy said, it depends on the cruise line. RCI allows no personal alcohol brought aboard, while Carnival allows one bottle of wine per person over 21.
I was on Oasis last year (Allure Sister ship), and have to say the wine and the wine packages were very good and affordable. When you buy a wine package, you can get your bottles from many of the restaurants on board (they deduct from your total as you go). Plus, you can take it with you (to your room or around the ship). If you do the Chefs Table, the true cost of the wine alone which they give with each of the courses is more than you pay for the experience, and they will keep pouring it!
Enjoy!!!!!

You can buy it aboard, and actually I suggest that method over pre-ordering it online. They will have kiosks open on embarkation day for the wine package orders, plus roaming waiters selling it. Go to one of the kiosks and do it. That way you can ask questions about the choices and get a better idea of what you get for your money.
If you look in your compass, Vintages has different tastings all week. One day reds, one day chardonnay etc. (They also have a 'dispenser' that will pour you the glass of your choice using your sea pass card.) It's a fixed price for several glasses. Some one said that the pours were very generous and very informative. You can also order tapas to go with it.
I wish I was a wine drinker!
