Walkie Talkies
 

Has anyone had success with using walkie talkies onboard ship? Given the many decks and bulkheads, particularly with the larger ships, I'm curious if these are an option to use to communicate with older kids roaming around on their own. Any problems with interference?

I would get a typical pair from Motorola. Nothing cheap, but nothing too expensive either.

You tend to see many families using off the shelf walkie talkies on board. I don't know how successful they are with everyone using the same frequencies.

I've had fairly good luck using a pair of $85 Motorola's. They seemed to penetrate at least 4 decks using lower channels.
