Alcohol Policies

Hello! I wanna know from anyone had travelled on the Grandeur of the Seas leaving from Panama and cruising on the southern Caribbean what is the minimum drinking age? 21 or 18?

And feel free to narrate any experiences either good or bad :)

I would have thought 21 was the minimum age, however, I don't know whether RCI for this purpose considers Panama North or South America. I found this on their website, but they don't say anything about cruises originating from Central America, which personally is what I would consider Panama.

You may want to call RCI to clarify this, or maybe another member can answer it better.

Technically, Panama is in North America, so 21.

Well actually Panama is at the bottom of Central America that is much closer from South America than North America, and the drinking age there is 18. The problem the RCCL don't designate specific drinking age for cruises leaving ports on Central America. Since it's a non-US port and the ship don't cruise near any US city I would assume it's 18.

Had anyone already travelled on the Grandeur of the Seas? What are your thoughts on the ship?

Sorry, Panama is part of Central America which belongs to the continent of North America, as well as all the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, and Greenland.

The Grandeur should be in great shape. It just went through a major refurbishment with many new features added.

This is a Spanish immersion cruise, right? I've sent a query to RCI about the drinking age. I can see the confusion over it. It is worth noting that this cruise is not listed under 'South American' itineraries by RCI but rather a 'Caribbean' cruise.

I've been told that this cruise is treated as non-North American and that the 18 year old drinking age is in effect.

Thanks Dave! Your awesome.
The topic still open for discussions about the ship, I would love to know how it went for anyone that had done it already.
