Next year I will be travelling on Adventure of the Seas. I have looked to see what debit cards are accepted and I see that Visa is. The thing is, I have a Visa Electron debit card and I was wondering if this is accepted?
The Royal Caribbean website says "Additionally, the SeaPass system may be activated with traveler's checks, debit cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo, or cash." Thus if your Visa Electron card has the Visa logo it should be accepted.
Don't forget that if you are using a debit card, there is a hold put against the account for a certain amount for each day of the cruise (I don't know how much RC holds, but I would figure at least $100 per person per day being covered by the card - that's a minimum)... this means that if you have any automatic payments coming out of your account while you are gone, there may not be suffiecient funds to cover, since the funds are being held until the end of the cruise. You should verify with the cruiseline and your bank before you leave to make sure you know how much will be held and if there will be any problems with this. I'm not saying this to scare you, but to make sure you're aware of what will happen. Enjoy your cruise.
