I was booked to go on the 15 night transatlantic cruise on Brilliance Of The Seas in August 2013 until today. For personal reasons it became clear we couldn't do this cruise so I rebooked to the eastern Panama Canal cruise leaving San Diego on November 27, 2013, aboard Legend Of The Seas. This will also be an official Crown & Anchor Member Cruise, so although we'll be Diamond Plus members by then we'll likely be just a couple more fish in the sea.
Of course, this now means I have a big hole in the summer of 2013 for a cruise. I'm thinking of going on Oasis or Allure again. Our son graduates high school next May. I think a graduation cruise may be in order.
Would that be a cruise WITH the son or WITHOUT Our oldest son took a cruise after college, in fact he has taken 4 long ones and a bunch of short ones. Of course they were on "big gray boats" (he's a Navy pilot). I had the extreme honor of doing a "7 night" from Honolulu to San Diego with him on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Not Allure or Oasis, but an indescribable experience.

YES Dave go on Allure in May that is when we are going...May 12th 2013, First cruise for my son and wonderful, beautiful daughter (in-law). So first time out for them will be on the biggest ship, like my first cruise was on the biggest ship...Freedom of the Seas some years ago. So in saying all that pick May 12th.
It is also one of those cruises where having a balcony is a must.
The Legend Of The Seas is the oldest Vision class ship but it will have the new Royal Advantage upgrades. The Vision class is unusual in that it really isn't a single class. Wiki has a good article about it. Even the funnel placement is different for two of the ships (such as Legend).
Feel for you Dave-We recently booked the repositioning cruise on Brilliance from Boston to Tampa next October, 2013 because it is a 13 day cruise. Somehow, 7 days never seems enough. The only downside to this is that I have to wait almost 15 months till we can cruise again- I had been trying to do two a year, but it just became too hard time wise and money wise. We sailed on Radience last year from Tampa for a short 5 day sail, and really loved the class ship, so we're anxious to get onboard Brilliance.. Oh well, I have 15 months of "looking forward" to the next one-keeps me going somewhat.
I did have to back off a bit in my quest for D+. I had planned on getting 30 points for the December cruises but really can't justify the cost of two JS bookings, so I moved to inside cabins - actually promenade insides so I still have a window. Thus, we won't make D+ until next June instead of in January.
I’m pursuing D+ as well and hoping to accomplish it within the next year if everything works out. I see that you are becoming a Liberty junkie so I may see you in early December. The Liberty is one of our favorite ships and I might be able to squeeze in one of the short cruises before the Indy.
Enjoy your cruise planning and thanks for all of your excellent cruise information on this site.
