They sure do print a lot of extra Cruise Compasses that end up being trashed every evening.

RCI seems to be permanently plagued with computer problems. My C&A account has my e-mail address listed and I've signed up for e-mails about special pricing, exclusive deals, etc. Despite this, only my wife gets the e-mails under her C&A account. I've contacted RCI about it and they have never fixed it. So here I am closing in on Diamond Plus level and my wife has to forward the e-mails to me.

Dave, don't feel bad - I'm not getting any emails from C&A either. My wife gets them but I never do.

Sonny, I'm thinking it may be a marketing ploy!

Default Help me understand tipping on RCI
I am less than 60 days from my 2nd ever cruise, and my first was on a line where gratuities were auto-paid. Is the expectation that I tip every time I swipe my SeaPass at a bar or restaurant? Also, is there a line on the receipt for that, or will I need to bring extra cash?

On Royal Caribbean all bar sales will include a 15% tip automatically added on the receipt. They also have a line on them for 'extra' gratuities should you feel so inclined to do so. You can write down an extra tip amount to be charged on top of the automatic one. Otherwise just sign the receipt and you are done, and the bar staff gets tipped.

Tips for the dining and housekeeping staff still default to cash in envelopes handed out on the last evening. However you can fill out a form to have them charged to your account, and that is essentially handled like the auto-tipping you had on your first cruise except you have to initiate it. Now, if you have selected My Time Dining then you have already signed up for pre-paid gratuities for the dining and housekeeping staff, and these are part of your cruise price. They require pre-paid tips for MTD.
