RCI will be charging $2.50 per cupcake, $12.50 for a half dozen and $20.00 for a dozen.
They have already said they think it is too low and they'll have trouble keeping enough stocked and ready to sell. RCI claims these cupcakes would go for $4 or more in a regular bakery.
If you go to an upscale bakery, I'm sure you'll find them for $4. These are probably designer cupcakes, not your average, chocolate or vanilla with icing. It's probably like a key lime cupcake, strawberry cheesecake, something like that.
However, RC will have to seriously improve on the quality of their desserts to get me to pay extra. I was really disappointed with the quality of desserts in the Windjammer. They looked nice, but were tasteless.
Ok educate me, is there a pay as you eat bakery on board? Kind of like a specialty restaurant, or are they from the buffet or added on to the menu as a al a carte extra?

Just because you had a tasteless experience on one RC ship doesn't mean that the Windjammer on other RC ships wouldn't have great tasting desserts. The dessert on the Radiance last month was even more delicious than it looked.
