According to initial reports, the earthquake which happened a little while ago near Port-au-Prince has not affected Labadee or the surrounding area on the north coast.
I am so sad for the people who were affected. The news gets worse with each update. I hadn't realized how many people live in Port-au-Prince -- roughly 1.7 million according to a couple of sources I checked. Very sad.
This is truly an awful thing to happen. My prayers are with them. The country just can't get a break it seems. I hope the international community helps them.
Well I can only pray for them
I am really sorry I just ask GOD to give them strenght and I can only hope I never have to deal with a situation like this, our last earthquake was on 1918 we are long overdue on the island...
When we turned on the news last night, we were shocked by the earthquake news. We had been in Labadee exactly ONE week ago to the day on our cruise. My prayers go out to those suffering there, and additional prayers of thanks that it didn't happen a week ago while we were there (I know it would have been terrifying to our children).
By the way - it was by far our favorite stop of the week - what a beautiful place!!!
