Default Third Quantum-class ship ordered
RCI announced this morning that they have signed on the dotted line and ordered a third Quantum-class ship for delivery in mid-2016. This is unusual given the first ship of the class is still over a year from being finished, so RCI has no real-life data on how this class of ship will be accepted.

The more I look at pictures of the Quantum the more I think it just isn't my idea of a romantic cruise. I'm sure it will be interesting to see just once though.

We booked it on Tuesday for the April 12,2015 sailing. It will be doing a 12 night southern route. I inquired about an Aft cabin and was told they started at 14,000 and I almost fell out of my chair. We were able to get a D5 on the hump for 1800 PP. I am looking forward to exploring a whole new ship

Yup, $14k is a little steep. Actually it is a tad crazy!

It appears on this class of ship all the Aft cabins are the two story loft suites that Oasis made so popular, but the only way I will ever see the inside of one will be during cabin crawl.

In 2011 I had a reservation for a loft suite on Allure. As final payment time grew closer I asked myself "why are you doing this when a GS gives the same perks but just not as much room?" I wised up and moved to a GS, saved about $6000, and was very happy. Those loft suites are for people who don't have to worry about money. Although, on that cruise they had an open loft suite and raffled it off for the Make A Wish charity. A couple with a baby won it for the rest of the cruise (5 more nights at the time).
