We done it. After 8 carnival cruises . We have finally booked a RCI jewel of the Seas Southern Caribbean Cruise. Since we have never cruised on RCI before ,or for that matter out of San Juan . Any info on the Ship and Hotels would be welcome. Just waiting to cruise 296 days to go. Thankyou . Yahoo! Yahoo!.:D
The Radiance class ships are very elegant and spacious. The Jewel is currently last on the list for getting the Royal Advantage upgrades installed so you'll still have the Seaview Cafe instead of Izumi, no pub, no Giovanni's Table (it is replacing Portofino, so it isn't that much of a change anyway - one Italian place for another), and some other things. These really aren't that big of a deal though as the Jewel will still offer a nice cruise.
This class of ship was built for speed and they are among the fastest cruise ships on the sea.
November is a good month for cruising from San Juan. It is likely that a good portion of the passengers will be from Puerto Rico for obvious reasons. This can often mean the ship will be buzzing with activity until the early morning hours and you won't see the decks rolled up at midnight.
Thank you for your info on the ship. It does sound somewhat different than our Carnival cruises. We have booked the Holiday Inn Express for the night before our cruise. What is the best way to get to the ship on cruise day, and the cost? We really feel like newbies here ,feeling like it's our first cruise . DW is very excited and is planning already. Our niece will be joining us her first cruise. Certainly hope we made the right choice. Happy cruising.
challon:cool:, lady dee:)
We were on the Jewel in 2009. I am sure you will enjoy the ship and your cruise. The Southern Caribbean is one of our favorite destinations. We have never left out of San Juan, but our friends have and enjoyed the experience.
Enjoy the planning phase of your cruise. I think you'll really like Royal Caribbean!
