I am taking my 18 year old nephew on the Majesty of the Seas in July. When we are in Nassau, I'd like to go to Atlantis but the Excursion package thru RCCL is $165 per person. This includes a tour, lunch and access to the water slides and three of the Lagoons (Ruins, Predator and Water's Edge). I'd really like to spend the day at Atlantis but I'm wondering if $165 per person is really worth it. Any suggestions?

Hello CPSTX, welcome to Cruise-Chat! I never booked an excursion to the Atlantis Resort, but I have taken a cab there for about $4 per person. My wife and I walked around the hotel enjoying all the sites (including the amazing aquarium), and it was free. Then we walked just a few hundred feet from the resort and enjoyed a great time at Cabbage Beach, which is also free. Just some food for thought in case you wanted to spend all that money on something else.

Hi CPSTX, welcome to Cruise-Chat! 417rogers you are one lucky man!

CPSTX, it's up to you, but I totally agree with SonnyV. You can do Atlantis on your own for a lot less. However, if the water slides are important to you, then $165/pp is not a horrible price. They do have a website, and I seem to recall $85 for aquarium/lagoon access. Something like that. Just google, Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas. It'll pull up their site. Are you on the same cruise that 417rogers is on?

Wishing both of you a fantastic cruise!

I will tell her! Thanks for the info everyone! I think we are going to spend the money and just do Atlantis. Not to sound like an excited school boy but we just sailed on Freedom last February and had a blast on that monster of a ship. Oasis is booked for Nov. 2010 (still far away) but the thought of going on a smaller RCI boat really sounds like fun. I will scan these boards for info about the ship.

So, if I understand you right Sonny, I can pay for a taxi and see the resort for free? Doesn't it cost to see the marine life? I have been to Nassau, but we missed Atlantis. I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

You can walk into the Atlantis and walk around all you want. There are some thing that are only for the hotel guests. You can see a lot of marine live from the aquarium for free. It's not like any other aquarium you've ever seen. If you look at the picture below you'll see some people standing by what looks like a large window with a blue light.

This is some of the things they are seeing...

My pictures don't do the awesome view any justice—I don't know how else to explain it.

They have more to offer for a price, but I never thought is was worth it. You'll have to call the Atlantis Resort for more information about the WALK THROUGH UNDERWATER TUNNELS.

Great pictures Sonny! The aquarium is amazing! They also have a Discover Atlantis Tour. I've not been on it though. Cabbage Beach that Sonny mentioned is pretty nice. Usually taxis will be waiting over the hill/dune there, so you don't have to walk back to the Atlantis entrance to get one.

Sonny is Right AGAIN..

Take a taxi and spend the day at the Atlantis..
Most of the aquarium is free...for another $20 or so you get a walking tour of the hotel with a little more of the aquarium...There is a casino there too....Food is very expensive there...Have a smashing good time...
