We are looking to book the Southern Caribbean 11 day cruise on the Serenade in March 2016. Having previously cruised on the Independence, Navigator and Liberty (and enjoyed every single one of them), this is a much smaller ship with fewer facilities.......but other than size, is the ship really that much different.......or might we be disappointed with the downsize so to speak??
Have also done a short 4 day cruise on the Monarch......also a smaller ship......but this was fine for only 4 days.
The only thing I will really miss I think is the Cafe Promenade!!
The Serenade is also an older ship........although has it been refurbished recently??
Also noticed from a photo that many of the balcony cabins are set back somewhat.....maybe giving some shade (welcome or otherwise?). Although it looks like the cabins towards the front of the ship are not set back, which is more in keeping with the larger ships.
Any up to date info and opinions welcome.....and in particular on this itinerary (Aruba, Bonaire, Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia, Greneda) which are all places we have never previously visited
If you were alright with the Monarch then you will be fine on the Serenade. It is bigger than Monarch. The Serenade is from the Radiance class. It has lots of glass and woodwork throughout the ship. The Radiance class has the self-levitating pool tables. It looks like it was refurbished in 2012. My niece and 16 family members just went on this ship at Christmas and had a great time.
The Radiance class ships are in fact preferred by many long time Royal Caribbean loyalty members. They are not as crowded as most other ships - a higher passenger space ratio. They are also the fastest ships in the fleet and ride very nicely.
Traveling the same itinerary 18 April 2016. Like that believe its the Radiance Class.
Viewing your post can't help not to think down the road. Like to snorkel, wife shops, beach time. We like to taxi to locations around the ports of call. Going a month before hand and most likely same itinerary. Your thoughts on each port, taxis, snorkeling beaches and general information.
