I took this in Cozumel last Thursday. The Grandeur is comparable in size to a Fantasy-class ship of Carnival.

Awesome picture! That reminds me of the Emerald Princess next to the Regent Seven Seas.

what a great picture... If this picture were of airplanes, we could put it on airliners.net.. guess we need cruiseships.net

Great picture Dave!
I watched the Oasis pull out of Fort Lauderdale in January. Very impressive ship. |
It is funny because my last two Royal Caribbean cruises were on those two ships. The Grandeur last summer and then the Oasis last December. I liked both, for different reasons.
I think anyone who dismisses the Oasis because of the size is doing themselves a disservice. I'd be more than happy to cruise on the Oasis and the Allure many times. |
I'm not saying I wouldn't sail on the Oasis, but when I look at that picture the phrase "Baby's got Back!" comes to mind...
I really didn't realize how much the side stuck out over the hull.. I wonder if that is why she had trouble in the rough seas on her crossing cruise... |
The Oasis didn't have a stability problem on the crossing according the Captain Bill Wright. It was 70 knot winds and seas up to 60 feet which slowed the ship down. There was damage to a few rescue vessels from the waves.
The aft end is definitely not the ship's "best side". It sort of reminds me of looking inside a Borg cube. |
I'd sail on the Oasis, but not for the prices they want right now. In a few years, the "awe" factor will have played itself out, then maybe they'll have some good deals. They'll have to in order to keep her full http://bestsmileys.com/lol/21.gif

Wow great photo, Dave. I can't wait to go back to Cozumel in October. I've only been there once before, but liked it.
Penny, like you, I'd also like to sail on the Oasis just for the experience, but can't afford it right now. Hopefully in a few years they'll drop the prices. I have to wonder if they're able to keep it booked with the economy the way it is. One thing I wonder though about the Oasis. I'm not sure if I would like being in an inward facing balcony cabin (over the Promenade, or whatever it's called on the Oasis). That's just my opinion; I know others may think different. |
