First of all thanks to everyone that gave me advice on what to do and how to do it. All the advice was bang on and I would change very little.

Freedom of the seas is great and what a way to start the cruise director said it best go big or go home. I am so glad we went big because the waters were rough on day 1 and we all managed fine with no seasickness.

Sonny I think it was you that said we had to do Portofinos and it was so worth the extra money. The dinning was great and we have no complaints but this was just a step up.

We arrived at port early and were eating lunch by 1 what a way to start the cruise.

The ports were fun but I am glad we only three days on land because it gave us extra time to enjoy the ship.

The shows were one of my favorite parts.

We did do Maho beach and the kids loved it. Our cab driver made it clear to us that it was the best they had to offer but it was still fun.

Thanks again eveyone we are hooked and talking about what to do in 2012. A number of people on the cruise said Disney is just a step up is there any truth to that? We were impressed and don't know what Disney could do that much better.

Cathy

Cathy,
Disney is in a class all it's own. They have a totally different product. On a Disney cruise you are immersed in everything Disney. The characters will be on the ship. The whole ship's decor is Disney, the main entertainment is Disney themed shows, movies on the ship are Disney movies. Adults should know there is no casino on Disney cruises. The space is used for the children's lab. Dining is a unique experience where you rotate to three different dining rooms. After 8PM bars are off limits to children. It is a great cruise for children and adults alike.

Thanks for that info. We love Disney but wanted to try something else. We now love RCCL so we may just stick with that. We made our choice based on price and the age of our kids. I was surpised at the number of people that said it was great even if you did not have kids to travel with. That being said it was spring break and we had 1,400 or 1,600 kids under 17 on board. So it cann't get much worse. The kids were not a problem other than 15 and ups hanging in the stairways and elevators.

Hi Cathy!

Welcome back, and glad you enjoyed your cruise! I'm actually booked on the Freedom on October 3, but I'm doing the Western Caribbean itinerary. I'm using RCI's transfer to the port from Orlando Airport, as since I'm by myself, this is an affordable option.

My parents have busy work schedules, which is why I go myself on cruises, which I'm fine with.

Welcome back, Cathy66 Sounds like you had a great time!! If you want to go big, can't think of anything bigger than the Allure, which will be sailing by 2012! The Oasis is already sailing, so you can book her now if you get cruise withdrawal I love sea days, too! It's so nice to be able to relax and explore the ship. Thank you for letting us know how it went!
