At least for the time being, RCI still custom prints luggage tags. I got mine today and they look different than other tags we've received from RCI. These are 18" long. I couldn't fit the whole tag on my scanner so the right side is cut off, but it is identical to the left side. Note the use of sectors, bar code, and they also put my Crown & Anchor status on the tags.
Interesting that they put the area of the ship on the tag. Did they do this before for other ships? Or is this new for the Oasis? Seems like a great idea so they can "stage" luggage for a certain area of the ship together. I can't imagine getting luggage for 6000 guests to the correct cabins. There has to be some big planning going on there.

I haven't had tags with the graphic showing sections before. Here is one thing I am worried about: for the size of this ship it only has 24 elevators. We all know how ships typically take over several elevators for luggage transfer on embarkation day. I don't know if Oasis will do that or if it has more service elevators. I'll know in 29 days.
The Oasis uses a color-coded system on the elevator lobby maps and interactive displays to break the ship down into zones so people can find their way around.
As with the tags, the eDocs I received list my cabin as 506 on deck 9 and not 9506.
Jealous Dave....can't wait for our August cruise on Oasis. The tags look great with the general location diagram on it. I'm sure each section get broken down even more as your luggage proceeds onto the ship. Thanks for the pic....it's these little tid bits that make the waiting all that more enjoyable.
