How is Dining Room Seating Assigned?

In the past efforts were made to seat people of a general age range and similar marital status together.

They should mix it up a bit so you can meet some different peeps.

It is inevitable that they inadvertently do.

As long as I am not seated with someone that is complaining about everything I am generally happy. I don't like hearing about someone's misery when I'm having great cruise.

My cruise experiences dovetail pretty much with those of penny. I know that when I took my solo cruise in June I was seated at a strictly singles table (It was without a doubt one of the funniest groups I've ever enjoyed the company of!)

They try their best to accommodate all the passengers. Obviously, that's not possible. I've been assigned to tables with young couples, elderly couples, but never with a family with young children. I've always enjoy eating with my table mates, even those that weren't fantastic.

I just hope I'm not judged by another table mate's standards on my upcoming cruise.

I was actually quite impressed with our Mother Daughter table, although we ended up like "Switzerland" by the end of the cruise because some of the girls couldn't get along. I found it entertaining, and everyone was kind to my Mother. In all my cruises, I only asked for a change once, when I was seated as a single at a family table who spoke another language ! I even apologized to them when I saw the younger members of the family who spoke some English. My tablemates have made many a cruise even more enjoyable and I can only hope most felt the same about me ! Eeeek Sonny, what I don't know may protect me and my Crown

Queen, too bad you can't join Esther and I on the Mariner - we would have a great time at our table.

I don't like hearing about someone's misery when I'm having great cruise.

That's why we switched. This woman went on about her husband's death and her bereavement group. And she cruises quite often and I'm sure she tells everyone her tale of woe. No wonder her daughter looked so bored--she's obviously heard it before.

Oh, the second night she told us she was clairvoyant. I so wanted to ask her if she was clairvoyant why she hadn't forseen her husband's death. Later she told us she had yada yada yada.

If we'd had some fun M-D at the table it would have been okay, but we didn't. Plus, some of their topics were not dinner appropriate.

Our second table was a couple who were hispanic and despite being in America 40+ years, didn't speak great English. It was okay though.

Oh I only wish Scooter and I could dine with the King and Queen Esther, but Century awaits our attention. But I know we would be thoroughly enjoying ourselves, laughing off any mishaps, and sharing the best Mariner has to offer. Happy Thanksgiving !
