we will be on the mariner 3/20; while on st. maarten was wondering if there is time to go to Little Bay or Simpson bay to jet-ski, shop in Marigot, AND a visit for snorkling at Orient Beach.....how long of a drive is it from Orient Beach to the dock at Phillipsburg? there are 4 adults and 6 kids ages 12-18 with us. best "quaint" good food lunch places??

It is only about 20 to 25 minutes to Orient Beach and you can circle the island in about an hour. You should be able to do everything you are considering.
One good thing about Orient beach is if you decide to go at the last minute don't worry that you left your bathing suits on board. Just make sure you have some sunscreen.
good advice about the sunscreen if you forget your bathing suit.....
not only can you rent jet skis there, but they have a few different things to do, including those trampolines in the water....lots of fun. and if you stay over by that stuff the number of people that "forgot their bathing suits" is fairly minimal
BeachBunny you are correct, they are called Lo-Lo's. If you are looking for a local (non-touristy) spot try The Jerk in downtown Philipsburg. If you are on the French side a great restaurant is La Belle Epoque.
