Port Canaveral closed due to hurricaine damage

We are leaving October 17th from Port Canaveral. I read on RCI's web site that the channel leading to the port has a 50 ft sand bar and the water is not deep enough for the Mariner to get through. Does anyone know how long it will depart from Miami. We booked our own airfare into Melbourne two days earlier and have an early afternoon flight the day the ship returns. I am not sure if we should be worried. Any help would be great. Thanks

Port Canaveral has reopened and most ships are returning, but the size of the Mariner requires a 35 foot clearance, therefore, for now they will not resume operations from PC. By October, I would think that things would be back to normal - but the hurricane season is far from over and we have no idea what else is in store for Florida. Just keep plugged in to RC's website for updates.

Good News, according to RCI website, the Mariner is sailing from PC this week. Lets just the gods spare us any further distruptions.
