Hi,

Royal Caribbean is testing this to see if it is accepted and if it helps shortening the sometimes long lines at JR. If enough passengers complain, they might do away with it again, otherwise they are likely to expand it to the other ships featuring JR.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. When JR's were first introduced on these ships, RC imposed a surcharge, that turned out to be a major mistake on their part. I will be following this closely to see what transpires.

It sounds like the major mistake was doing away with the surcharge, which led to a tremendous amount of food waste, left behind by gluttons with a sense of entitlement.

It's only a $4 charge....for all you can eat. Have one less Piña Colada and you come out ahead. If the surcharge offends your sensibilities, simply eat somewhere else.....'nuf said.

Remember, the company's fiduciary responsibility is to the shareholders....not the hamburger eatin' cruisers.

From their response, it sounds like part of the reason was to cut down on the lines and crowds by discouraging people (however slightly) from going to Johnny Rockets. Cunard instituted a similar situation when they found the alternate restaurant on the QM2 was too popular - only the dollar amount was quite a bit more!
