I'd never let anyone other than a qualified dentist or dental technician/hygienist do anything to my teeth.

oh ok, that makes sense I guess, but I think all dentists say that they 'cant guarantee' that you wont suffer discomfort or sensitivity after treatment, anyway best not to chance it while on hols, thanks guys.

Can you get the kits in the Drug Stores there? I do know several friends who did use the kits and got pretty darn good results and they don't cost much, well at least here in the States.

Regularly scheduled cleanings and polishing, with flossing, and occassional whitening products recommended by your Dentist/Hygenist usually do the trick for me.

A little helpful hint for any spa treatment:
They always have you fill out a questionnaire prior to any treatment...
One of the questions is always "What do you hope to get from this treatment?"
We always answer "No Sales Pitch When Its Over."
Seems to do the trick....

First step, obviously is to stop smoking if in fact you do. Because I can tell yoy from experience that no product or dentist on the planet can help you with whitening until you get that in order.

And then once I quit, regular checkups and proper brushing became the only thing necessary.
