If your cruise is 7-nights or more out of Miami, you can buy the luggage valet service. I think it was $20 per bag, plus they print out the luggage tags and boarding passes. That would speed things up for an earlier flight. In Miami you still have to claim your luggage, but after Customs you take it to a truck and then you are done with it. You know, like it used to be done for free prior to 9/11!
A cab from the Port of Miami to Ft Lauderdale airport is over $100. I've used the Super Shuttle a few years back it's was only about $32 pp back then, probably more now, but less expensive than a cab.
CanDoAnn, queenofcruizin called and SuperShuttle is no longer in business there. Which disappoints me, they were much more reasonable. One of our posters mentioned the Tri-Rail service they have. I have looked through their website, but have not tried it. It looks like they have a frequent schedule, though.
Penny3333 and quennofcruzin, Super Shuttle is still around. Their phone number is 305-871-2000. However, I called and they no longer go from port of miami to Fort Lauderdale airport. You could go from port of miami to Miami airport, then miami airport to Ft lauderdale airport, but, it would cost $46pp. The train is doable, but, you have a lot of transfers to go through. Another great company I used is Associated Limo. They will give you a private car like a lincoln towne car, port of Miami to Ft Lauderdale airport for $96.10 including taxes and tip. Their number is 800-568-5466 This still beats the price of a cab and you have comfort too.
Thanks CanDoAnn, I would probably do something like that, but that would mean it would be $200 cheaper to fly into FLL. I also found this shuttle service they quote $28pp. But I have not used them, so if anyone has, please let us know.

CanDoAnn, have you used the train? It looked like you could take the train down to a Miami stop (like the airport) and then take a bus or grab a cab to the port. The price for the train looked VERY reasonable. I've not tried it, though. It might be a hassle with a lot of luggage?
I used the "Find" feature and found Top Shuttle, recommended by both Sonny and Dave. They seem to be very reasonable. You can find them here.
Thanks Penny

We have cruised Majesty twice. The last time I decided I would take a chance on a 10.30am flight rather than wait all day. We docked at 0600, the ship was cleared by Customs at 0700, we had breakfast, did the self assist luggage, were off the ship by 0720 and were at our gate at MIA ready for our flight at 0810. Majesty is one of their smaller ships so easy to get off quickly.
If you get a taxi to MIA - fixed rate of $24 then get on SAS shuttle www.ridesas.com over to FLL you should be fine for a 11am flight, email and ask them exactly what their schedule is, so you can have a realistic idea of whether it is practical - but providing you do the self assist -just hang onto your luggage and be first off the ship.
If not,well you have a plan B,right?
You might also ask if they come into the Port of Miami to pick up. I know they just discontinued going into Port Everglades, it was too difficult to keep to a time commitment there, but I didn't ask about Port of Miami. They come highly recommended on another cruise enthusiast site.
