Hi, the wife and I are taking a short cruise on the Majesty out of Miami 10/2 to 10/5/09. I was wondering how long to allow for the ride to the airport. My choices for flights home are 11:18 am or 2:20 pm. Is the 11:18 pushing it too close?

It depends on what deck you guys are on. Maybe someone else who has more experience can confirm what I'm about to tell you.
The ship I believes docks at 7:00, with disembarkation beginning shortly after with express departures (carry your own luggage), and Crown and Anchor Members. After that, they start with the top decks and work their way down. The goal is to try to have everyone off by 9:30 am, since they have to turn the ship around and get it ready for the next sailing.

I never had a problem making a 11:30 flight out of Ft. Lauderdale when docking in Miami. It's a 45 minute cab ride from the Port of Miami to the Ft. Lauderdale airport. I didn't have a choice of departure time, but if I did I would choose a later flight. It's nice to have a good breakfast aboard the ship before disembarkation - you can do that if you have to be one of the first groups off to catch an early flight.
I second the good breakfast/taking your own luggage off arriving at the airport at least an hour before your flight and taking the 2pm flight!
Did I mention the good breakfast?
I love to eat!
Thank you to every one who posted. We wound up on a Delta flight out of Miami @ 12:20. Saved some frustration, anxiety, and about $150.00. Life is good!

That said Sonny, I would be taking a risk, but docking in Miami, and flying out of Miami 10:35am or 4:20pm ?

4:20, they say not to book anything before noon. If you were in Port Everglades, 10:35 might even be pushing it, depending on how many ships had to be cleared.
