Ft.Lauderdale/Miami Ports

Does anyone know if the Miami and Ft.Lauderdale Ports are near each other? I am trying to finalize travel plans and was wondering if I should fly into FLL or Miami? (I have gone out of the FLL port several times and I know it is very close to the airport.)

Any suggestions are appreciated

It is about 31 miles and a good 45 minutes or more travel time.

Distance-wise, yes. MIA is just 15 minutes or so from the port of Miami and cabs have a flat rate of ~$20 or so. Of course you have the hassles of MIA to deal with, but then FLL has more hassles than it used to have.

Just left Miami Port on Monday, cab to Miami Airport is $24.00 per cab, no matter how many people. Some of the cabs are mini vans so I would imagine that you could fit 5 or 6 people.
