Well it seems that the Oasis barely averted disaster as it was leaving the shipyard. If it were not for the telescopic stacks it would have been a really short trip.

I tried to explain that move (going faster) to my wife and she just cringed. I takes some confidence in your measurements no to want to just creeper gear it under the bridge.
With two feet of clearance, you don't want to see any big waves....
I wonder if you deploy the stabilizers if that helps pull the ship lower too??? Load it up with fuel and supplies too.

This is not anything new. According to a video on Freedom about the building of Voyager, they have had to do the same thing on the Voyager class and I assume the Freedom class to make it under the bridge. They said 18 knots for the Voyager class

You are right about that Jim... I bet all her tanks were full and they put every spare person they could find on deck to increase her draft. When you are 20-decks high... 2 feet is not that much wiggle room. I bet the captain had more than his teeth clenched.
