That is so funny too! Yep, it was a hoot. The only problem was everyone showed up on lido for the Halloween costume contest at the wrong time. The crew seemed pretty happy though when they found out they were getting an extra hour to sleep.

I can imagine the conversation between the Captain and the Cruise Director. "What the heck happened last night?".

I forgot to add, if you have an Atomic Watch as I do that is set to automatically change the time via satellite be aware that sometimes the ship doesn't change the time - at the same time.

I bought a Casio atomic watch that I have to point toward Colorado so it updates every morning. It is sort of a pain to manually set it. Lousy directions and controls. It has an international function so I can have one time zone on the analog display and another one on the small LCD screen. It is my knock-around watch for those non-Rolex moments, although the Casio is obviously more accurate.

I can see both sides of the argument for the ships staying on homeport time or changing with the local time zones. In the latter, if someone is in a bar on Cozumel and the clock says 3pm they know the ship is also at 3pm. Either way, there are always people who don't pay attention to the announcements or read the daily schedule.

Thanks MiamiSpartan. As long as it's in the Cruise Compass then I'll be fine. It looks like on a cruise in late June, then stayed on local island time, according to Day 2, Page 1 of the cruise compass.

Halloween costume contest
I'll be on a cruise on October 31. So you think they'll have a costume contest? I need to get my costume together.

Usually they do. The best costumes I've seen have come from things on/around the ship. Some really creative people. I remember one coming dressed as a table, he got plates, silverware, sheets, etc., from on board.
