I read on the Carnival page that someone wrote something to the effect of "the shows at night on our Carnival cruise were NOT for children, as the dancers were on stage in thongs."
This is something our group is not interested in either, although we are all adults. DO THE SHOWS ON ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S LIBERTY OF THE SEAS INCLUDE GIRLS DANCING IN THONGS?
There usually is a late night adult show that consists of a comedian—and they announce that children are NOT ALLOWED. The evening shows are first class on Royal Caribbean. I've seen more shows than most people - and can't recall any of them even coming close to being risque. Remember, cruising is a family vacation. Why would a cruise line what to spoil that image?
Sonny is right. Why would a cruise line tarnish their image? I find both cruise lines have similar type shows. Some people are just over sensitive. Their children will see worse on public beaches.
They are called g-strings, not thongs, but I could see how you would call them that.
All production shows in Las Vegas have costuming built on this design, so I would imagine if any of the cruise lines were doing a Las Vegas style show, there certainly may be g-strings. I didn't notice when I saw the production show on FOS and really think I would remember g-strings on stage ... so my GUESS is no, RCCL does not use g-strings in their productions?
I have never seen the dancers on Carnival wearing a thong or a g-string. I wouldn't think they would on Royal Caribbean either. Granted their costumes are a little on the scant side, but nothing that would make them be in the risque category. I've seen far worse on the Lido deck.
Carnival has one show (or maybe two) on a 7 day cruise entitled "Las Vegas style review" in which the dancers are dressed in a lot less clothes than normal shows. They are not naked and have as much clothing on as most girls do on public beaches. If you are offended by that, then it is simple not to attend those shows as they are clearly marked in the Carnival Capers. Having been on both cruise lines, I would say that RCI cruise shows are about the same as Carnival's everyday shows, but yes, CCL does have the Las Vegas style review shows.

Never saw anything in poor taste on the stage. Also folks will tell you about the "dirty game show (the Quest)" or the "Blue Comedy Show" they happened upon. (obnoxious buzzer noise here!) YOU will not stumble into adult entertainment by accident. It is always billed as such, and disclaimers about content are issued again before the entertainment starts.
