On at least one RCI ship the pool staff has begun enforcing the rules regarding not reserving chairs. The attendants are putting stickers with the time on them on chairs which have been tagged with the telltale marks of the chair hog... a pair of sandals (for two chairs - one sandal on each chair), or the more common paperback book. They then come back a bit later and if the chair is still empty they bag up the items and take them away. I think they are giving 45 minutes grace time.

I don't know if this is fleetwide or not. I guess I'll see in a couple weeks.

About time. They need to enforce the no savings seats in the main show lounge too.

I'm hoping this isn't just one ship's pool supervision getting fed up and taking action.

Yes, the show lounge hogs too. It's a simple concept - if you want to sit together then arrive together and early enough.

I think they all need to start enforcing it, pool side and in the lounges. It can be ridiculous on sea days for people to even find a place to leave their items, let alone sit down. That was one of my main reasons for loving the Sanctuary on Princess, you might have to pay, but at least you get to sit down.

As nice as the Sanctuary might be, and areas similar on other ships and cruise lines, I don't think you should have to pay for that. It just gives cruise lines more of a reason not to enforce it. "Well, if you can't find a seat here go pay for one."

When we were on the Grandeur in February there was someone in the show lounge saving a whole row of seats for thirteen people. Even though up on the side screens a ticker was saying "no saving seats".

I was also on the Grandeur in Feb and couldn't believe how hard it was to get seats for shows. Not my thing, but Mom loves them, and we would go 20 minutes before a show and still had a hard time getting good seats for 2 !

Love the enforcement of chair hogs http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif !!
I often watch those first rows of chairs saved faithfully by Mom for kids or other adults who never sit down. I feel sorry for the chair police, but something needed to be done.

Did they run bingo right before the show? I hate when they do that. It really messes up seating options for those of us who don't want to play bingo.

Way to go RCI! It's about time someone started enforcing the rules. http://bestsmileys.com/thumbs/7.gif

The bingo before the show issue is not only for RCI... Carnival does the same thing. Instead of having to arrive for the show time, you need to be there before bingo to get good seats...

I love the pool chair enforcement. I think 45 minutes it too much though. I can see being in the hot tub for 20 or 30 minutes but 45 minutes is a long time to away from a sunbathing chair. Of course if they could offer some place besides the chairs to leave your "things" then that would free up some seats too. I don't always need a spot in the sun but I do need a place for my towels, sandals and other things I brought to the pool/hot tub...

That's great news!
