I am looking toward the July cruise of the Jewel to Northern Europe. Right now prices for this 12 day cruise are much higher than the price for the Mediterranean cruise I took this summer on the Legend. With the economy so bad, are people anticipating a drop in fares for the summer cruises?

I'm not. My cruise has gone up considerably in price since I booked it. Also, remember that it is not only pax from the U.S. that take these cruises. But, one thing to watch out for is the airfare. Even if cruise fares to Europe in the summer do come down, airfares certainly won't, and choices will be few and far between. So, if you really want this cruise, I'd say to book it now with an agent that will monitor price changes.

Me either, all I can foresee is price increases. It's simple economics, the price of everything has increased, so in order to realize a profit, that increase has to be passed on. They have the fuel surcharge, increased drink prices, some have increased the daily tips, and most have incrased fares. If the price of the cruise does decrease, your travel agent will be able to get you the difference. Best wishes!

You bring up a great reason to use a reputable TA. It is hard for a single individual to keep up with the ever-changing world of airfare expenses. Let someone who is familiar with the business do the legwork for you. Travel Agents profit off of repeat business so they are most likely to make sure that you, as a consumer, are satisfied.

A friend of ours who works for RCCL said there is no slow down in business...due to the Euro dollar. Most ships are still packed...supply and demand, I wouldn't see prices dipping.
