I watced FOS on the Travel Channel. I have a balcony in the rear of the ship on the 10th deck(room 1702)this summer. The rear balcony was very hard to get. I notice that on the show that the rear balcony seems to be inside the ship and has a roof over it with steel surrounding the balcony going outward. Does this take away the effect of the balcony? I enjoy looking down at the sea, will I be able to do that? Should I switch to a side balcony?

We had an aft corner balcony on the Mariner. This photo shows what extends beyond the balconies on the aft. This should be similar to what one would see on the Freedom.

Dave,
Thanks for the reply. Looking at that photo the view looks awful. I am confused on why the back of the ship was recommened to me? Is there anyone out there who stayed on FOS on the back of the ship before I switch cabins.

Ahh, but there is more. The balconies on the side are huge and ours had a "window" on the side too. It was a great balcony. Look at these other photos:

Typically the balconies on the stern are larger than the balconies on either side of the ship.

Lori,

Those photos were from the Mariner. I posted them since the view should be similar for Freedom cabins on the aft. It was cabin 7688 on Mariner.
