Sovereign of the Seas

Anyone been on the Sovereign lately? Would love to hear your experiences.

I haven't been on her yet...but in less than 3 weeks, I will be on her. My DH and I are going on her first cruise.

You can do a search on the boards for "Sovereign of the Seas" and there will be lots of posts that come up. That's what I did to find out about her.

Cruisemk, I escorted a group on the Sovereign earlier this month. Everyone had a great time. There were newbies as well as experienced cruisers onboard. Did you have specific questions you want to know about?

Hey guys! We went on the SOS on July 3rd--the 4 day Bahamas! It was me, husband, 2 daughters (7 and 9) and in-laws! We had a blast! It was our first cruise and I just couldn't beleive how nice it was! The ship was amazing and although we had a bit of rain and day at sea storned we had a great time on the ship period without the pool etc. I have LOTS of pictures if you would like to see them

Also, my kids loved the Adventure Ocean program and honeslty didn't want to leave it! I was surprised at the free time my husband and I had with the kids loving what they were doing too!
We had such a gret time that we have bnooked for next year already with my family with tons of kids on Enchantment of the Seas. Let me know if you have more specific questins.

mckensmom - Thanks so much for sharing those photos. My husband and I are leaving in 6 days to go to the Bahamas onboard the Sovereign of the Seas and we are SO excited. Looking at these pictures has me that much more excited about going!

Great pictures - Questions -

How did you get over to Atlantis Beach? Price?
Did you pay to go into the Atlantis Hotel? Were you out in the man made beach area?

DSR--We hadn't booked anything on Nassau and had thought we could get around on our own as I had read on other sites--we weren't good at this! This is what we done wrong---we thought we would walk to a private beach (instead of going to Paradise Island) which is to the right once you go through the actual entrance to the island, you go through like a station (for lack of a better word) and once you walk through these little indoor shops you open the doors to TONS of people wanting to give you a taxi ride, carriage ride, etc. We had to say no 3 dozen times and starting walking to the beach--LONG--and once we got there no one was there which made us leery! We headed back to figure out what we were going to do or how to get to Paradise Island as in the station thing is information and people there that book things--the shops on the way back were not great and honestly if you like to window shop it might be okay but personally we wanted the water and sand so we flagged down a taxi! (HINT: WE crazily forgot to take anything other than $44 on the island so we were SOOO limited--shirts there were $3.98 if you want to take back souvenirs to people).

There law requires a set fee--which was $4 per person (first 2 and then $3 next ones) We didn't realize this until after it was too late-and paid $16 (4people)-we also had to pay the $1 toll fee to get onto Paradise Island. If you use a taxi--haggle--they will deal! The taxi dropped us off at Cabbage Island (I think was the name) and we just walked down the beach to see what Atlantis was like and just sat our stuff down and went swimming, BUT everyone on public beach had the same color towels and I was very nervous we weren't supposed to be there so I worried the whole time and didn't stay long--we walked up the beach straight to Atlantis--no one ever asked us any questions but it was again nerve racking feeling we shouldn't be there--we went under the famous walk way that connects the buildings, which by the way was a suite that's $25K a night if you're interested!!--and to the left towards the casino---there is where people were asking for your band to get out the way we had went in and turning you around if you didn't have one---they didn't say anything to us---you have to walk through the casino to the waterway to get a water taxi back out and that's where the Atlantis chair etc is! Personally--I would not pay a fortune to use the facility--the private beach we walked by and I am sure you had to have a band to get into the actual area--but it was nothing compared to the public beach--color-waves --I din't see the COLORS like the public one but again we didn't go close! I wish we would have paid for an excursion there that would have allowed us use of the public beach while allowing us to look around--we didn't even go near the Dig and really didn't wander around-because I was afraid to get kicked out-HA! IT cost us $21 to get there by taxi and $8 water taxi back for 4 of us! You could do the water taxi over by walking down and to the right--(through the haglers) to the water taxis---we didn't ask any questions at Atlantis as to what we could do but they have shops etc..so I am sure they want business.

This was our first cruise and honestly just didn't ask enough questions about what we could or could not do---go the programs on the ship taht tell you all about the places you will be stopping---YOU WILL LOVE COCOCAY!!!
