We booked the family on Grandeur out of Baltimore, departing on 8/18. The original itinerary had the first stop in the Bahmas, but this was changed a couple of months ago to Miami. A couple of days ago, we got an e-mail saying the scheduled 1:00 arrival in Miami is going to be 4:00. An e-mail to Royal Caribbean asking for an explanation resulted in a form e-mail citing unspecified operational needs.

I know the itinerary is subject to change. Is there any way to get an answer about the multiple changes on this one? Can't be weather. Does anybody who has been on Grandeur this season have any ideas about Miami?

Hi Steve,
Welcome to Cruise-chat. There's not too much to do in Miami between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
If you call customer service at 1-800-529-6918, they should be able to answer your question. Maybe the ship will be docked longer. Let us know what they say. Good luck!

Sonny

Royal Caribbean web site shows the arrival time in Miami is 1:00pm on Aug 20. Please call customer service at 1 (800) 529 6918 for confirmation.

Since it is a Sunday, I'll speculate that the docking time in Miami was changed because all the piers will be full at 1pm. Maybe they have to wait until another ship leaves port. Personally, I'd choose Miami over Nassau any day.

I followed your suggestion and called the customer service line. The customer service rep said her information still shows a 1:00 arrival in Miami. Our e-mail notice was from our travel agent. The customer service rep said she will check with a supervisor and call us with the correct information. I'll pass it on when I get it.

Still no e-mail or phone call from customer service, but the web site has been updated to show 4:00 pm arrival in Miami for all of the Grandeur 9 night West Caribbean from Baltimore. At last check, the Miami shore excursions were also taken off the web site.

Based on all of the other positive comments about Royal Caribbean, we are hoping customer service on board is better that what we have experienced from the toll free line and the e-mail inquiries.

I suspect that I know the answer to my follow-up question, but I'll ask anyway. We are planning to meet a friend in Miami--is there any chance that she would be permirtted aboard the ship to join s for dinner? I would put this to RCCL by e-mail and the 800 number, but I'm not confident that I can get a reply in time.

Not a chance! It would be nice, but security is as tight as a drum. If it were possible, it would have to be arrange months in advance.

Thanks, I thought that would be an issue. Time to get out the Miami guidebook.
