Hi! I was reading in another thread (Topic: Ground Transport from Houston-Bush to Galveston) -- and in your comments you say you flew INTO Galveston? So there is an airport actually on Galveston Island? I'm asking because I was worried that we would have to fly into Houston and then take a two-hour-and-fifteen-minute shuttle bus ride down to Galveston!

Any info will be appreciated!

My bad! We flew into Houston-Hobby Airport. It was about a 45 minute ride from there to the port. Can't say enough good things about Melva. If you need a ride give her a call. Which ship are you going on? If it's the Rhapsody I am so envious. Hope this helps. Pennie

Oh, Penny thank you for this information! Hmmm well the cruise planner/travel agent recommended the Rhapsody, but it's for a seven-night cruise, and due to hubby's work considerations a three-night would be much more "do-able" so we're still looking around.

Right now from searching online it looks like the only RC three-night cruise is to the Bahamas, and sails from Miami! So i think we're going to have to go with that rather than sailing from Galveston. But the Rhapsody certainly sounded wonderful!!!

The three-night to Bahamas is aboard the Majesty of the Seas, so if anybody has any words of advice/info/opinion on the Majesty please post.

The Majesty is just as great. We did that one two years ago. You won't be disappointed. Let me know if I can help anymore. Pennie

Trust me a three night cruise is not long enough. Try to go for at least four nights. It makes a big difference. Pennie

Majesty of the Seas was the first ship we ever sailed on, had a great first time experience with RCCL so we are going again on the Enchantment. 3 days was a little too short but I would recommend a short trip for the first timer. The ship is in great shape and I have no complaints about the food. The entertainment was so-so. I would consider doing it again just to go back to CoCoCay. One of RCCL's private islands. Post any questions you might have, I'd be glad to answer them.

Re 3-nights v. 4-nights, Hubby and I suddenly realized that the 3 nights means actually only two days!

Well, we'll find something just perfect i'm sure, with the help of you all and the cruise planner -- i think Hubby and I are cowards about being more than a few feet from dear ol' terra firma for very long
