I have done the western caribbean cruise 2 times now and I just love it. This year I didn't do any excursions through the ship. In Grand Cayman you could book a tour when you get off the ship since there are plenty of tours available and probably half the cost. We did the sting ray tour and there were only 10 people on our tour. We had lots of fun and since there were so few of us we got to spend a lot of time holding & petting the sting rays. If you like to parasail you can go to Sea Grapes which is a beach and there is a good guy who does the parasailing over there. I already knew what I wanted to do in the other ports so I didn't need to book any excursions since I was already familiar with these places.

Last year we did book a few tours through the ship.

Following on from this we are also going on FOS for the first time in a few weeks (Western Caribbean). Should we book any excursions beforehand of just get off and book at port. As a newbie i have no idea what to expect and there is so much to take in.

I booked all my excurstions before hand. But I also did my on my own. I hope this helps you.

I just got off the "Freedom" (16-23 Dec 07). Awesome. Recommend: Dunn Falls (Ocho Rios, Caymans (Sting Ray City and snokeling, Cozumel (snokeling or the Mayan ruins). These are all fantastic. I'll never forget the Jamaican boat with the music, drinks (not a drinker) and festive mood the Jamaicans are able to exude. They are so laid back. Again, you'll love the "Freedom."
