We are flying into Fort Lauderdale (2 adults and 2 kids) the day before our cruise leaves out of Miami. We are staying at the Embassy Suites near the Miami airport. Should I book transportation from the Fort Lauderdale airport to the hotel before we leave home or is there amble taxis service to take us to the Miami area hotel? Which do you think is most cost effective? We will have 2 adults and 2 kids and all the luggage. Any advice would be great...We have transportation the next day to the port by the hotel.

I've done what you're doing and found Topshuttle to be very good. I make arrangements before I fly into Ft. Lauderdale. You can go HERE for more information.

Thanks for the reply, that site looks good. Do you think $75 is about what we would pay in a taxi fare?
Also, what is your opinion on the return side of the cruise. I did not book RC transfers becuase our flight leaves at 12:20pm and we need to get to the airport ASAP after we dock and I do not want to be waiting for a bus to fill up and leave. Can you schedule TopShuttle to meet you at the port and take you to the airport?

We used Top Shuttle for our cruise in June. Great service. We flew in the day before the cruise and had arrangements with Top to pick us up at the hotel the following morning for the ride to the ship, and then for them to pick us up on debarkation morning for the ride to the airport. It all went well. Yes, you can reserve a Top Shuttle to just take you from the ship to the airport.

Thank you for the help, I will call them this week or book on line. It may be easier then a taxi.

It sounds like you are doing the same as us. We are flying into Miami though and staying at the Embassy Suites there as well. We are also flying in the day before the cruise. We always do that just in case!! Let me know how you like the hotel if you are going before our cruise, which is during the first week of December.

Just out of curiosity, why did you fly into Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami? Was it cheaper? Thanks for any info.

We always rent a car-for the price-some as cheap as $15.00 @ day-it's not even worth the cab fare and you can go where you want to on your "dead day". Most car rentals companys will shuttle you to the pier when you turn it in-I guess it's all up to the individual on what you want to do-have a great cruise!!!!

Bruce-
Yes, it was cheaper for us to fly to Fort Lauderdale vs Miami. I checked leaving from Philly or Baltimore and the price and the schedules were all better flying from Philly to Fort Lauderdale. The flights we got were also nonstop which are hard to find. We are traveling with 2 kids so that will be a good thing. I will let you know how the hotel was, we leave in 2 weeks. I booked transportation through TopShuttle as others recommended. We Sail on FOS on Aug 26

Thanks, I look forward to hearing about it. We are Embassy Suites fans, having stayed in them many times. We have transportation to the port through the hotel as well. We are looking for nonstop flights as well and there are several to Miami for us. Let me know your thoughts on the FOS, we leave on Liberty in December with an 8 year old.
