There are also waterproof containers you can wear around your neck. We bought a couple of them for when we go ashore. We got ours from Amex, but they sell them in dive shops as well as on board. Ours are large enough for our card, a credit card, driver's license, and a few dollars. They're great for snorkeling excursions, although we've never really worried about it on a ship excursion. The crews on board every dive excursion we've been on have been fantastic. Some of the beaches provide lockers, too. While on board, we just leave our card in our shorts' pockets.
