Best Dolphin exursion

Is the dolphin swim through rc the same as the royal swim with shore trips? I want to book one an would rather book through the ship so as to not have to worry about transpotation...but i also dont want to have 50 people crammed waiting to get to interact with the dolphins..with shore trips the max group is 10 people...how about the royal exursion?

You'll always have more people when booking through the cruise ship. I'd do a little online research for a dolphin experience.

We booked our swim with the dolphins through Princess. There were about 60 people signed up, however, when we got to Chankanaab Park, they split us up into smaller groups. I believe we had 10 in our group. I don't think they will let more than that go in with the dolphins as they are very intelligent creatures. If something feels wrong to them, they won't do it. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if 10-12 would be the maximum for any swim, maybe more in the encounter, but not in the swim. Make sure you book the swim and not the encounter. To me, it was worth every cent!

We did the dolphin encounter in Cozumel and there was only 5 in our group, that included me and my husband.

You can call Dolphin Discovery there in Chankanaab Park and book everything yourself. Transportation is not a problem. There is a line to get in for taxi service and it moves quickly. It is only a 5 or 10 minute ride from the port and I believe it was $10 per cab, not per person. Chankanaab Park is wonderful, get there early and enjoy its beauty. We did the Royal Swim, where you get to hold on to the dolphin and get a foot push and we loved it. Even my 8 year old had a blast!! So, book on your own and beat the crowd.

We booked with shoretrips.com. We had 8 in our group and it was unbelievable. We went as soon as the ship was in port (we were are a pier so can walk right off the ship and not wait for tender). Remember when booking on your own Cozumel is central time. Ships time is usually kept at the time zone of your departure city through the entire cruise. We beat the ship's group there. 25 or so people being herded in. We also had time to explore the park on our own, snorkel, eat some french fries. Discovery Cove has a website and you can book directly with them. We loved our small group, the video that is over half of our family, and all the interaction we got to do. Don't settle for less than the Royal Swim!

I was happy to hear your response, Electech, because we are going on ShoreTrips Royal Dolphin swim in April and also have an 8 year old who is very excited for this excursion! We have also heard very good things about ST and the small groups.
