Pre- cruise hotel stay

My family and I a group of 10 are cruising Feb13 th on Enchantment and were stayin 1 night pre-cruise. Since I'M the one planning i have been torn between Holiday Inn express 17th nice rooms and nice location or Embassy suites both are close to the port but Embassy is more expensive unless i go on price line which i have never done before. Any information would be helpful or are there other hotels that are just as good. And how early should I book. Should i book for everyone which would be 5 rooms or just my wife and i and let everybody book for themselves.I know somebody has some good infor that i can use. Somebody also mentioned AAMERISUITES . Wherever just close to the port or shuttle if it has no shuttle we can take a taxi. Thanks everybody for your help.

I will be leaving out of Port Everglades.

I would recommend the Embassay Suites as it is well located and the price also includes cocktails in the evening and an excellent breakfast. There are several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. Amerisuites is right across the street but is a far inferior hotel that I would not recommend.

Alos, try the Renaissance Hotel, which is even closer to the port. I stayed there last time and was able to get a great rate. If you do stay there I would highly recommend the Bimini House Restaurant in the same center.

The Marriott is also another great place to stay as it is right on the inter coastal and has a great bar/restaurant and swimming pool area.

I would have everyone make their own reservations.

So I guess Holiday Inn would not be a good choice for 1 night?

It would be OK depending on when you arrive and what you want to do. There are several good choices on 17th Street and in the surrounding area so you can't really go wrong no matter where you stay. I always like to have a good dinner the night before the cruise, so I tend to stay at hotels in the general area. If you are arriving late at night and boarding the cruise in the morning, then anywhere will work.

To further confuse the issue, my husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express a few months ago and we were very pleased with it. We came in around 9:00 p.m. and took the shuttle to the hotel. That night we ate at a bar a few doors down from the hotel, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic. I would tell you the name of the bar, by both my husband and I are rapidly becoming senile and neither one of us can remember its name. It will come to us in five minutes... or maybe sometime tomorrow.

P. S. My husband remembered the name of the bar. Durty Harry's. Unfortunately, he says we didn't like the hotel. Huh? I thought we liked it.
