We have a RCI credit card and are saving up to use on our FOS cruise in August 2007, it takes 125,000 points for a free cruise. Has anyone used this credit card perk? Any problems when you went to cash in the points and use the cruise certificate?
I have the credit card. We are sailing in January and we are supposed to have over $1,000 ship board credit from this card. Redeeming the points has been quite painless although it would be nice if they could just apply to the cruise instead of mailing the certificates back and forth.

Just got my card and the first statement. All that I have read says they are pretty good about it, but I agree in this electronic age, it would be nice to do electronically, especially with as much as you have.

I actually have NCL credit card, but I understand that it works the same way. We took the cruise using points worth $1,500 just a month ago. The entire process was very painless. I requested the vouchers, they came in the mail right away. I called the cruise line and made the reservations. The rest is history. I wish it was as easy using the miles for the airlines credit cards.
Question...We are RCI members but haven't looked into the card. How much usage are we talking about to get that many points? And do you use this card just like you would a visa or mastercard?

In response to your question about the credit card...it is a regular credit card. Put out by MBNA and Royal Caribbean. You can call 866-438-6262. The points vary from 5,000 to 125,000. At the low level you can get a $50 credit on board, upgrade on a 3-4 night Bahamas or Baja sailing, etc. The items get bigger as the points get bigger. At the 125,000 level you can get a Free 5-7 night Mexican Riviera or Caribbean sailing for 2. The points are dollar for dollar, so if you spend 100 dollars on the card you get 100 points. The other perk is if you charge something on Royal Caribbean or book cruise with them you get double the points...book a cruise for $1,000 you get 2,000 points, those are called royal points. Check it out, we use this card for everything from online bills to groceries, might as well get the points instead of using your debit card! We hope to reach the 125,000 point in a few months! Hope this info helps
Thanks! I looked it up on line and it wasn't very clear. So how much time do they give you to get up to that 125,000 mark?

I don't believe there is a time limit to earn the points. But, if you decide to use your points at the 10,000 level, etc then you are back to 0 and you would have to start saving again. We have taken 2 cruises since we got the card and are saving up the points to reach the 125,000 for the free cruise for 2.
