Does anybody besides me have a favorite CD.Mine happens to be Dan Dan the party man.He does the best Travolta on 70's ninght. Is he still with RCCL? I think sometimes depending on the weather the CD can be the differance between a good or average sailing.
Mine was Mad Max on the Costa Magica. His English not so good, but he was so funny. We were held on board due to immigration after returning from a wonderful 7 day Christmas cruise. I was happy because I didn't want to leave the ship anyway, but there were a bunch of VERY unhappy people wanting to debark. He had us in stiches for over 2 hours. There have been others but Max just stood out.
Well, I have not met one yet that I can remember the name, but I am ALWAYS impressed with how hard these people work.
The CD seems to be always "on". They get up early and they are up late. I'm sure they have off time but it sure doesn't seem like it.
Some have been better than others, but until you have been on several cruises, you don't realize it. I do remember the CD from our Spirit cruise because he was funny, entertaining and I remember that he did a "morning show" each day for the cabin TV. You could wake up, flip on the TV and the CD and his staff were running through the Caper Paper and explaining the days activities. I thought it was pre recorded until one of the days he said that something had changed from the Capers.
The CD on the Mariner OTS was outstanding too.
I think this is a position that you are not in very long if you are not good at it.

I think Gordon Watman has been with RCCL the longest. He'll be on the Navigator transatlantic cruise in April. He is one of my favorite CD's; I'm looking forward to meeting him again.
We just got off the Libery OTS this morning. James Andrews was there--we had him on the Mariner a couple years prior. He was fantastic. The love and marriage show (which after several cruises is a bit tired) was the funniest I have ever seen. The energy this guy has is fantastic. His staff was allowed to shine in their own right (he thrives on attention but lets everyone elses strengths be seen too!) We loved him.
