Cruising and Cyclones

Hi Guys,

Ive cruised twice before and booked on oasis for jan 2010 however on looking up youtube this evening I came across Voyager in Cyclone in Valentia, now its not voyager of the seas im not sure what line it is, but can anyone tell me why this ship would not have had advance warning to stay out of this cyclone?

I find the stabilizers on Liberty and Voyager of the Seas both ships I sailed on to be brilliant and hardly felt it moving at all.

Just curious as I find royal caribbeans safety record impecable.

That is three years ago. As I recall the storm initially wasn't that bad but suddenly worsened and the ship was simply caught up in it. It can happen. A lot of people don't realize how rough the Med can be. Some of the worst seas I saw in my Navy days were in the Mediterranean.

God I was totally shocked by how rocky it got on the footage, have you seen it? ships can take a 45 degree angle without toppling over I think?

Sure. In fact I seem to recall the Captain of either the Freedom or the Liberty OTS saying the ship could beyond 45 degrees and right itself.
